Equine Laparoscopy

A Laparosope is a rigid narrow camera that is inserted in to the patients abdomen through a very small incison. The laparoscope allows visualisation of abdominal organs and can be used while the patient is standing or under general anaesthesia. Laparsocopy is most commonly used to remove ovaries in mares, abdominal testicles in rigs and recently it has been used to apply PGE gel to unblock the oviducts of mares with fertility problems.
